Welcome to FAN OF THE MONTH!

As it turns out, I have been chosen as Fan of the Month for May. I have to admit, I felt that other fans should be given a shot at this first, but since you insisted... here's my page. I am not much of a collector of anything really (except dust maybe, I have plenty of dust) so I decided to pull up some old pictures and some of my favorite LAG pictures and really anything else I happened upon while going through hundreds of photos. Enjoy!

This is me! And my 2 cats, Salt & Pepper.

Screen Name:     Web Raven

(I can't recall who from the L.A. Guns board dubbed me Web Raven, but I've been using it ever since.)  I used to go by SixxKitten everywhere online until that point.

Real Name:         Charlene Kress (a/k/a Cherie)

There's a story behind why I go by Cherie online.  I had a babysitter when I was younger who always called me Char.  I totally did not like this babysitter whatsoever and thus I loathe being called Char.  But for whatever reason, people are compelled to call me Char instead of Charlene.  So I figured when I got online years ago, I'd go by Cherie (which is a name I've been using on my art and poetry for years and years) to avoid being called Char.  Occasionally I get someone calling me Cher and that's just as annoying.  LOL

Where You Hail From:
Born and raised in Chicago, IL.  Okay well really I was born in Chicago, but raised in the suburbs for the most part.  We lived in Streamwood, IL until just before Kindergarten, moved to Bartlett, IL for I think 1 year, moved to Palatine where I lived until I finished 5th grade, moved to Elmwood Park, IL where I stayed until I graduated 8th grade (but we did ditch everything and move to Long Beach California for 2 ½ months and came back 2 months before Graduation), attended high school in Palatine... I think I ended up back in Elmwood Park at some point and after that back into Palatine... suffice it to say that I have moved around A LOT... I've lived in those towns mentioned above, as well as Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg IL and Hollywood FL.  More info than you wanted to know?  LOL You asked! :)~

When did you first listen to LAG?
Hmmmm... I want to say it was MTV that turned me on to L.A. Guns simply because my best friend and I were glued to the television with MTV on 24/7. I was in 8th grade.  My first L.A. Guns show was probably about a year later (I'm really bad with remembering time/dates) when the London Quireboys opened for them... either at the Vic or the Riv.  I think Tracii remembered which it was. And now for some fun pictures...

Me and my lil rugrat when he was 1 1/2

How about a picture of Phil dancing in the crowd?
Or Phil hugging on me and Flynn?

What's your fav lag album?
I always stick with the self-titled as my absolute favorite.  But then I start thinking and Cocked & Loaded is really the one that got me into L.A. Guns.  But then you know I really like Vicious Circle.  I never get tired of listening to that album.  And then there's Shrinking Violet.  I'm a huge Jizzy fan, so of course I'm going to love that album.  Oh man, and then they came out with Waking the Dead and I totally love it!  So, um, what was the question again?

Who's your fav member?
You cannot honestly ask me this question.  LOL  Jizzy Pearl.  KIDDING.  Well I mean I love Jizzy and all, but I'm kidding when I say he's my favorite LAG member.  I really cannot pick a favorite band member.  I love them all for who they are as individuals. Here, Jay is my favorite LAG member. :)

Aww... look, it's me and Jay in NY.

What's your fav lag moment? (personally i love the i cant get out of the bus bathroom story!)
Favorite LAG moment... wow.  There's a lot!  When I very first met Tracii at Jackhammer's in Schaumburg years ago... we had only been chatting online at the time and finally met in person.  He made me a peanut butter & jelly sandwich picture to the right) and gave me Advil for my headache.  Very sweet and hospitable.  :)  And wasn't the bus a damn mess? LOL! BTW, someone yanked Tracii's pants down just before that picture was snapped. See? Since the very beginning, you can't go to an L.A. Guns show without seeing Tracii's ass. Well. I guess now you could. :hmph:

Or maybe the time we went to see L.A. Guns in Rockford and my tix/passes were not at the gate.  Found Tracii, tracked down some passes and one of them came from Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick.  :)  Or maybe the time that we went to see them in Lansing, IL and ended up driving Phil and Tracii around shopping all evening before the show.  LOL  And at a Chinese buffet place, one of the little signs at the buffet table was misspelled and I think Phil snagged it... and I'm pretty sure Teresa ended up with it.  Or there was that time down in Georgia when it was friggin' hot and muggy and I was not dressed for the weather... Phil let me borrow a pair of his shorts. (darn I don't have a picture of that...)  HEHE  Or the fireworks war between Poison and Great White when we were down in Florida with L.A. Guns.

There was this one time (at band camp) in Chicago when we all rode the bus to a nearby bar and hung out... there was this guy who's a HUGE LAG fan there and he said something about he could kiss Tracii or whatever... but anyway, I pointed out Tracii and this dude totally laid one on him!  LMFAO!!!  You had to be there. picture of Tracii in a phone booth at that bar to the left)

Or, the one you're waiting for, the time I locked myself in the bathroom on the bus in Wisconsin.  Well, not necessarily LOCKED, but the door slid from side to side instead of opening outward (like some bus doors do!!!) and I actually braced my hands on the sink and butt on the door and was pushing like all hell on it, but it wouldn't open.  Um, then I kinda figured out that it slid to the side. *grin*  That same day, when we first got on the bus, Tracii gives me a hug and then hands me his cell phone saying that somebody wants to talk to me. I took the phone from him and said "Hello?"  The voice on the other end says "Can you believe this guy wants me to be in a band with him and he admits that he's gay?"  OMFG!!!!!!!!!  After sitting down, I said "Yeah, but everybody knows that. It's no secret."  The guy laughs and says "This is Nikki." And I replied with "I figured that out already." DUH... :SLAPS SELF IN HEAD: Then he says "Is he lighting up a cigarette?" and Tracii was.  Scary that he knew that.  Then he asks me if Tracii was getting fat.  OMG... HAHAHAHA... He said "I have an excuse, I've been sitting around the house on my ass. He's been out on tour." I'm like "Please, you are not fat." And I cannot believe I am even having this conversation. We talked about some other things that just skip my mind right now, but he ended the convo with "Well, I just wanted to say hey." and hell I can't even remember what I might have said after that. I handed the phone back to Tracii and was pretty much just in shock. I immediately called Teresa to tell her what happened, but got her answering machine. ARGH! Tracii said "Don't you hate that? You're all excited and want to share something, but nobody is home." So the rest of the night I was telling everyone I could "I talked to Nikki today!" HAHAHA... I'm such a dork. But it was very cool. :) Tracii rulz. I thanked Tracii for not telling me who was on the phone when he handed it to me because I would have had a heart attack, and he said that's exactly why he didn't.  And then there's the whole NY trip for L.A. Guns.  That was a blast as well.  But I guess I've taken up enough space here already.  HAHA

What do you do for a living?
Aside from being partner in our home-based web design business, I am a Risk Analyst for Grubb & Ellis Company - a real estate brokering and management firm.  Our Risk Management department is basically in charge of securing insurance to cover the company's ass(ets), deal with general liability, property damage and workers' compensation claims, issue certificates of insurance to our various managed properties, review contracts, etc.  It's definitely a FULL job.  The woman I work for here was my boss at a previous company.  I worked with her there for 2 ½ years, then I quit and stayed at home for a year to get the web design business going.  She quit too and started with G&E, then 6 months after she started, she called me and asked if I'd like to come work with her again.  Couldn't pass up the $$.  You don't make much money designing websites for rock bands, you just get a lot of free stuff.  LOL

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
