Welcome to FAN OF THE MONTH!

Drum Roll for our FOTM for March 2007: ROSE! I'm sure most of you already know Rose through her posts on this board - and now you're going to get to know her a little better. A woman with a kind heart and many talents - go read for yourselves! Congrats, Rose! :)

Screen Name?
Rose

And what is your real name?
Meghann Rose Barrett.  My mother named me after the girl who had a fling with a priest in the novel, The Thorn Birds.   My middle name was my great-greatmother's first name.  After 15 years of correcting everyone's spelling of my pseudo-Irish first name, I switched to Rose.

Where are you from?
Too-stoned, Scarizona ( Tucson , AZ ).  There is a lot going on right now... Rodeo, Accenture Golf Tournament, Air Shows, and the Gem & Mineral Show just ended.  But it's very laid-back... nice resorts, pretty mountiains, a gathering place for artists and musicians.

Please tell us a little about yourself (Job, hobbies, etc.):
Hi, I'm Rose and I'm a workaholic.  I've been drawing and painting my whole life.  I had my first job painting walls when I was 13.  Then I worked for a well-known artist in a studio when I was 15.  Besides the paint fumes and loss of brain cells, it was the best job ever!  I was a dancer in high school, but when I was given dance remixes of Bon Jovi and Motley Crue I quit.  Somehow I was able to make about 15 experimental short films and documentaries while working 2 jobs, travelling, and studying art history, music law/recording/engineering, and acting.  I modelled for a few years, which helped pay for all the films.  I graduated last year with a degree in Media Arts and an "Addisonian crisis" which has taken over a year to recover from.  I'm now working on my first feature film, Hellvolution , by Terry M. West.  It's a non-paying gig, so I work full-time as office manager/sales/watch technician/custom jewelry designer at Fast Fix.  When I'm not working, I'm messing around with photography, poetry, desiging print ads and web banners for friends' bands/stores/events, and sewing my own dresses and bedding.  I love animals, road trips, antiques, and long walks at sunset......

How, when, and why did you get into L.A. Guns?
I had heard them a few times on the radio during junior high school.  I loved the songs, but never really knew who the band was behind "Jayne" and "Never Enough".  I finally saw them when I was 18.   I actually went to see Ratt and Dokken, but after the show I realized that I enjoyed L.A. Guns the most. even though I didn't know the members' names or the words to their songs. The other bands were trying so hard to sound tough and look badass, but at times it went over the top and I had to roll my eyes and laugh. L.A. Guns were just naturally cool, didn't give a f*** what anyone thought, Keff was wearing a kilt and flashed everyone a few times, Tracii stood out against the other guitar players, Phil was showing off his tan...

What is your favourite song/album?
Can't choose just one song... Top 5 (in no order) would have to be "Over the Edge", "Rip & Tear", "Nothing Better To Do", "I'd Love To Change The World", or "Long Time Dead". I guess that makes "Vicious Circle" my favourite album. they're all excellent. I have all the albums except those without Phil. I could never get used to L.A. Guns without his voice. I've had "Man In The Moon" the longest. When I'd take the bus home from school, I'd stop at every music shop on the boulevard trying to find L.A. Guns. This went on for several weeks until I found "MITM". It was "Cocked & Loaded" I was really after, and when I found it I played it nonstop.

Now share your favourite L.A. Guns story/memory, please:
Can't think of just one memory either. It might be the feeling of being scared half to death while driving across the desert in the middle of the night after a show, flying out to see them several times, walking down Hollywood Blvd. alone to a show on Halloween, meeting board members who would become some of my best friends, sending radio DJs LAG CDs and promoting shows that aren't even in my area, developing photos of the show the next morning, receiving Love, Peace, and Geese in the mail, getting postcards from my forum family, seeing the look on my parents' faces when they met the band. Even the bad stories are the best stories: almost falling off the bus, stalkers, "That's Hot", getting lost 1 million times on the way to shows, hangovers & tea. March 11 will be the 10 th show for me. and many more to come.

What other bands do you like?
Rolling Stones, Led Zep, The Doors, The Cure, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Hanoi Rocks, Faster Pussycat, Garbage, Rammstein, Smashing Pumpkins, Prince, David Bowie, Iggy & The Stooges, The Hollies, The Byrds, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Mozart, Beethoven, Pachelbel, Talvin Singh, Karsh Kale, Dhamaal, 12 Girls Band, Miyavi.

Any famous last words?
I'd rather be Friend for Life  than Fan of the Month. But this is pretty nice. J Thanks. All I really want to say is....  If you love someone, tell them. hug them if you can. You never know if you'll have the chance again. This is my only regret in life. I lost so many family and friends last year, I started going crazy. But I've adopted family here and I wouldn't trade that for anything in the world. Thanks for being such great friends.
