Kimberly Abshire
Where are you from?
Greensburg, Indiana originally. Now I'm a transplanted Okie (Oklahoma, USA)
Please tell us a little about yourself (Job, hobbies, etc.):
My birthday is on Valentine's Day. (just had to throw that in there). I have a degree in Health and Sports Sciences (Exercise Physiology) with a minor in Psychology. I am also a former rugby player with the University of Oklahoma Roses. I've worked as a Physical Therapy Tech, Cardiology Rehab Tech, Aquatics Rehab Tech and as a Human Resources Manager specializing in on-the-job accidents and workers' compensation. For about the past five years I have been a professional homemaker, Air Force wife and mother of three. We recently moved back from Okinawa, Japan where we lived for four years. We are now back in Oklahoma but are trying to get our next assignment at Mildenhall RAFB, England in three years. We will probably know more about it when my hubby pins on the rank of Major in 2009.
How/when and why did you get into L.A. Guns?
The first time I saw 'Sex Action' on MTV back in the late 80s I was hooked. I ran right out and bought the, er. cassette and wore it out on my trips back and forth from college to my parents' house. I've always been attracted to music with big sounding guitars and thick bass lines, but I also like melody. LA Guns was always what I turned to when I needed to get pumped up for a rugby match too. I've since replaced all of my cassettes with CDs and even have them all backed up on my computer!
What is your favourite song/album?
Tales from the Strip is by far my favorite album, but picking one favorite song is very difficult. My favorite guilty pleasure is cranking the surround sound up during 'Skin' so maybe that would be it. I also like to play that one just before my husband comes home from being gone a while. ;)
Now tell us your favourite L.A. Guns story/memory, please:
Unfortunately I don't have one yet. I went from being a poor college kid to busy wife and mother and then we moved to Japan for four years. And since we've been back, every time there's a gig near me something comes up and I can't go. The closest thing would have to be asking Phil info on lyrics via MySpace regarding Girl music and being told "What, you don't understand what I'm singing????" hence receiving a reply from me of "Dude, who sucked the jam out of your donut?" :D (FYI: He doesn't like jam donuts.) I never did get the lyrics.
What other bands do you like?
I'm a HUGE Queen fan, Def Leppard, Girl, Skid Row, Cinderella, Dokken, Bonham, Anthrax, Hinder, Cheap Trick, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Krokus, Man-Raze, Bullet Boys, Hank Williams Jr., Gretchen Wilson, Rod Stewart, Blondie, The Breeders, Cybernauts, Bowie, Dio, Duran Duran, Evanescence, Guns N' Roses, Journey, The Kinks, K's Choice, Letters to Cleo, Nickelback, Patsy Cline, The Beatles, Puddle of Mud, Sting, T.Rex, Weezer. and many, many more.
Any famous last words?
Tusui ya tatashina mun. Warabee shikashina mun. - The old should be treated with due respect. Children should be treated with gentleness.
