Welcome to FAN OF THE MONTH!

August FAN OF THE MONTH goes to... CJ!!!!!! Where would we be without our sports reporter.. and I must say if I had prizes for being the most excited person to get to be FOTM.. it would definitely go to CJ!!! CONGRATS!!!!

Screen name: CJguru (but just call me CJ)

Real Name: Chris Johnson (but I'm so used to people calling me CJ, I sometimes don't even pay attention when people say my given name).

About you: I'm 31. I live in Philippi, West Virginia. Philippi was the site of the first land battle of the Civil War. Although battle isn't exactly accurate as it was basically a few shots fired as both sides were running away in opposite directions.

I am currently employed as the Assistant Sports Editor for the Clarksburg News and Telegram. It's a daily paper about 20 minutes from where I live. I've been Sports Editor at two other papers in the state as well as pretty much every other newspaper position one could have at other papers. Basically, I'm the Keri Kelli of journalism....I go wherever I'm needed as long as the money is good.

I'm single, but I have a cat named Cail. The most spoiled cat in the world (just don't let her know I said that). I can be kind of sarcastic at times but it's harmless because I'm really a sweetheart. I may be the easiest going person I know and I'm a hopeless romantic.

Cail, the princess of my household >>

Hobbies: I do like sports (which helps with being a sports editor) but I'm not obsessed with them. I seldom watch sports when I get home at night because I just spent all evening at work following them. But I am a pretty loyal Baltimore Orioles, Washington Redskins and North Carolina Tar Heels fan. Music and movies are huge hobbies. I love all kinds of different movies. A few of my favorites: Pulp Fiction, Tombstone, Usual Suspects, Almost Famous, North by Northwest, Dogma, The Godfather, Lord of the Rings, anything with Will Ferrell in it...I could go on an on.

There's a few TV shows I watch religiously: The Simpsons, MASH, 24, Alias and most recently Buffy and Angel (I got hooked on those two because of this board) I also like to read. I try to read at least 50 pages of something every day. I love Shakespeare, Dan Brown, James Ellroy, James Patterson, any of the chessy old paperback westerns.

I like to cook. I've been told I make the world's best chili and spaghetti. I like visiting new places. I like hanging out by the pool with a beer and L.A. Guns on the stereo and I like taking naps with Cail sleeping on my chest.

Fav LAG album: I love them all but three stand out just a little more than the others: I think Vicious Circle is their best. Love the diversity of it. I think Waking The Dead is the best pure hard rock/metal album of the last couple years. And the debut album. I remember seeing the video for Sex Action and then going out and buying the album the next day. I think they truly caught lightning in a bottle with that one. It's just so raw and in your face. Not quite punk, not quite glam. It blew me away the first time I listened to it. I had never heard anything quite like it.

Fav LAG song: I have a mix CD I keep in the car that has 85 L.A. Guns songs on it. And I'm mad because there are about 10 more that I wish would fit. There's just so many. Rip and Tear, Over The Edge, City of Angels, Wheels of Fire, I'll Be There, Electric Gypsy, Why Ain't I Bleeding.....but if I had to just pick one it would be One More Reason. I would drive 10 hours to see them just do this song and be happy about it.

Best LAG memory:
The first time I saw them live, they were opening for AC/DC. I wasn't really an AC/DC fan back then (I've since come to my senses). After LAG finished their set. I yelled out "Screw AC/DC, we want more L.A. Guns!" It was one of those moments where the whole arena seemed to get quiet right when I said it, so 10,000 people turn and look at me like I'm an idiot. I think Angus Young even came out and shot me a look.

At one of the Rockfest shows, I stood up in a crowd and yelled "Tracii Guns rules the world!" and Tracii acknowledged me with a laugh and said "It's too hot to rule the world."

The now infamous Baltimore/Springfield roadtrip with fellow board members was a definite highlight of my life. Hanging on the bus with some great friends, a great band and free beer and Hersheys minatures courtesy of Keri, you can't beat that!

Pretty much anytime I get to see them live is memorable though. I've seen them with various lineups but you always get a great live show. It's one of the things I love about this band, they always tear the roof of the place. And they treat their fans great.

I've been lucky enough to meet everyone in the current lineup plus just about all the former members at one time or another and they have always been very cool to me.

Other top bands: Any of Phil's other bands (Girl, Liberators, etc.), Killing Machine, Brides of Destruction, Motley Crue, Ratt, The Scream and all other John Corabi related bands, Love/Hate and all other Jizzy Pearl related bands, Gilby Clarke, Col. Parker, Faster Pussycat, Def Leppard, Dokken, Cheap Trick, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queensryche, Butch Walker, Marvelous 3, Motochrist, The Cult, King's X, Van Halen, AC/DC, Scorpions, Pretty Boy Floyd, Sevendust, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, The Four Horsemen, Kix, Badlands, Tora Tora, Alice Cooper, DPM, Roxie 77, Beautiful Creatures, The Replacements, Pantera, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Death Angel, Dio, Murderdolls, Black Crowes, Dirty Looks, Judas Priest, Bon Jovi, Tesla, Warrant, Lit, Velvet Revolver, Dangerous Toys, Black N Blue, Enuff Z Nuff, Jet, Jetboy, Cinderella, Skid Row, Queen, The Who, The Ramones, Bad Company.....ok, pretty much anything with guitar and vocals and I'm a fan.

Any last words: Honestly, I can't say that L.A. Guns was my favorite band when I made my first post on the board. But since then, they have become my No. 1 band. And not just because of the great music and concerts. It's impossible for me to listen to L.A. Guns now and not think of this board, all of the great people I've met from all over the world. All of the great friends I've met in person at shows. And it's carried over to other bands as well. I can't listen to Corabi without thinking of Nikki, Gilby and think of Dianne, Faster Pussycat and think of Lynn, The Donnas and Alan, Def Leppard, Cheap Trick, The Beatles and think of Britt. And the list goes on and on.

This board is a special place. No matter what you have going on in your life. Happy, tragic, stupid, sad, whatever....someone is always there to say exactly what you need to hear. That's pretty damn cool if you ask me.

Ok, sorry this was so long. But I am a writer after all and I'm excited....so that means long answers.

To all the members I've already met, can't wait til we do it again. To all those I haven't met, can't wait for the first time.

When I win the lottery, I'm opening up a club and I'm gonna hire L.A. Guns to play the first night and I'm gonna pay for everyone on the board's travel expenses and we are gonna have the most kick-ass party in the history of the world!
