Welcome to FAN OF THE MONTH!
Alright, you already know who April's Fan of the Month is - but even if you didn't I suppose any lengthy introduction would be unnecessary. He has been on this board longer than most of us and seen it in all its incarnations. He can be totally silly and he can be just as serious, he's into all sorts of music and always keeps an open mind, trying to be fair even when discussions get out of hand and frozen fish is thrown around in abundance. Therefore it is more than appropriate that he is the first FOTM who gets chosen twice. Congrats, Freerk! :)

What other bands do you like?
This month and going forward we chose to do something a little different. Members from the forum are allowed to submit a question or questions to the upcoming FOTM and said FOTM can choose to answer them in their interview if they wish. And now on to the questions submitted by board members :) Kundalini: Hey Freerk..what does your name mean? “Peacebringer”. Indeed I happen to have that tendency! Plus I was born on December 25. So I guess I’m the new Messiah. But don’t tell others … it would be a very stressful life for me  Miss Maritha: If you could live your life again, what would you change?
Instantly 2 things come up: love and work. I wish I would have been my present inside person 20 years ago. Then I would have had MUCH more experience with women. And I wish I would have started studied Industrial Design after leaving high school. I now do some Graphic Design, but Industrial Design is much more useful, benefiting and permanent. Most Graphic Designs are for truly temporary goals. It’s not worth a lot I think. Miss Maritha: If you could travel in time, where and when would you choose to live? Cannot come up with an attractive idea, but as a kid I was very interested in the Middle Ages (ooooohhh, cold, basic and bloody …. njehhh) and the Wild West (njehhh, too lonesome). So, no: no knights or cowboys for me. France however is THE country for me. THEY know how to live a pleasant life, in their ultra-pleasant country. soundfx: You've been to America once or twice, right? So what would you say is the biggest difference between America as you've seen it and life in the Netherlands? Wow, difficult to answer in short. I’ve been twice (technically 3x) in North America, and all the places were different: Toronto , New Orleans , Los Angeles , Lake Superior . Maybe it’s the waste. The temporary and superficial character of things sometimes. Less quality. To not write a book, I leave it at this. Sorry. I am very happy to have got to get to know American people through this board, so I know now that’s not the whole truth about the Americans. soundfx: Who is your absolute least favourite music-maker - of any genre? Impossible to single out. In general: any talentless bandwagon-jumper. Those DJ’s who think they are God with their stupid paste work of OTHER people's melodies, their cliché produced petty little works. Metal bands with their booooooring songs. KILL KILL KILL! Their success however is the fault of the brainless music listener. Music, to me, has to have some kind of originality, or beauty. Uhmmm, that’s personal, indeed. Holy Gun: do you know who was Faas Wilkes?Sure! But I am too YOUNG to have seem him play soccer  I think I remember that he was the FIRST dutch player to be asked to be professionally payed by a foreign club. Pandora: What is one of your favourite childhood memories or toys you had growing up? I didn’t have a very happy childhood. My parents tried to kill each other, almost literally. Plus: I didn’t belong: too smart, not the right clothes or hobbies, very pale in the face (I got rid of that thank God, no clue why). I was so in love with a girl out of my class, that lasted for 5 years, into high school. When she FI-NAL-LY went with me to play some tennis, and gave me a sip of HER drink (with spit on it from HER lips) … yeah, it’s embarrassing, but that’s the 1st thing that comes up. Zac: Describe what would be your perfect day. (What you would do, eat, listen, etc...) Impossible, but theoretically: all the things I love to do in one day. In the morning deliver a Graphic Design that makes them go wild, then go with my friends for a roadbike-ride and be a hero, then have a nice skiing afternoon with nice conversations with other friends, then in the evening have dinner (too much nice food to mention … I love Italian, French, Greek, Mexican and spicy food) and see a great band (and be invited on stage and do OK) with a beautiful and nice girl, and in the late evening honour the concept of true love :whatever: LadyJayne: How many lives you have gone to and which bands you have seen??? I’m no match for Teresa (over 500 bands?), but we had a discussion about that some year ago. My guess was around 200 performances. Memorable gigs that come to mind are: Led Zeppelin (minus Bonham of course) in ’97, Darryl Hall (better voice than on record even) way back, Stones in ’05 (energetic like a boy band), KISS in ’05 or so (band-crowd synergy), Juliette Lewis in ’07 (female Iggy Pop), B-52’s last year (historic), New Model Army in ‘07 and way, way more. L.A. Guns last year was also pretty memorable. Peachy: Who is better in bed....Americans or Europeans? My guess would be Europeans. More aware of what it’s about, less of trying to meet certain fashionable requirements. Stephanie: Could you imagine ever living anywhere else but Amsterdam? If so, where? On the mark! The only places would be Paris (I sooo love that city, feel immediately at home there) or Nice (really French as well, that mediterranean atmosphere, and a skiing area at 100 miles). Lv2rokk: How does it feel to be chosen as Fan of the Month for the second time? Really, truly: I feel honoured. It’s humbling to feel loved. And I love the questions. Not cliché at all.Any famous last words?
