What is your Screen Name?
RavynLust (I really wanted Ravyn, but it was taken when I first joined. Changing it would be nice, but I don't want to lose my posting status...so I'll deal!)
And your real name, please?
Lynn Perry
Where are you from?
I'm originally from Philadelphia, PA, but I now live in Central New Jersey.
Please tell us a little about yourself (Job, hobbies, etc.):
WARNING: This is a little long-winded!
First, I have a confession to make......I am a very happily married woman. Yes, little ol' me found someone to put up with her shit! LOL It will be 10 years at the end of this month, so it's kind of appropriate you picked me for April! Anyway, when I first came on this board, Ravyn was my alter ego, so I never mentioned being married. But the more I was Ravyn, the more I realized how much a part of me Ravyn really is. I had told my hubby that I hadn't mentioned him initially, and he was OK with it. He knew if anyone got too friendly, I would tell them (which I have!). But....he's a WONDERFUL husband, and he should be recognized for putting up with me. He's not a rock and roller so he doesn't quite get that part of me, but he doesn't mind, and neither do I. When I told him I was FOTM, he just said, "Oh geez!" Oh, and in case you're wondering....he asked me to keep his name out of this!
Moving on....
I work for a non-profit organization that does a lot of different things to help the people of New Jersey. I'm technically the office manager, but I do way more than that (too much to list-I'm already running long!) I am also VERY involved in my church. I had no religious upbringing whatsoever, but always felt that "pull." I was baptized as an adult in 1998. I am currently: in the choir (traditional service), on the worship team (contemporary service), finishing my second consecutive term as Social Ministries Chair on the council, on the Altar Guild, helping out with the confirmation class, representing my church at the NJ Synod meetings (church government), and on the Policy Board of the Lutheran Office of Governmental Ministries (we tell our rep what we feel the synod needs to work on in the advocacy department). Basically, I'm a rock and roller who believes in God! LOL Hey....we're supposedly all made in His image (or Hers, depending on how you feel), and if that's true, then God is a rock and roller too!
Whew! Told you it was long-winded!
How/when and why did you get into L.A. Guns?
I was at my then-boyfriend's house. I didn't have MTV at the time (and wish I didn't now!) but he did, so I made him turn it on. They played the video for "Electric Gypsy." As soon as I heard the opening riffs and saw the boots and motorcycles, I was hooked! I hadn't even seen how hot they were yet! LOL
What is your favourite song/album?
That's a tough one. For album (CD....whatever), I remember being totally blown away by "Hollywood Vampires" the first time I heard it, so I guess that one. Though "Tales" kicks ass!
Song...hmmmm....it depends on the day. I guess Rip N Tear. Song I love and have never heard live: Magdalaine (hint hint!) Best live song I ever heard: Long Time Dead, from the tour with Brent and Keri. It was the day after The Station fire when they found out Derek was killed. They dedicated the song to him and everyone else who died. They said we had to keep rocking, 'cause they (those who died) couldn't. Then, they played Long Time Dead. It was quite moving.
Now share your favourite L.A. Guns story/memory, please:
Well, unfortunately for you guys, I have THREE! I'll keep them brief (they're in chronological order):
1. On the Cocked and Loaded Tour 1988, Phil was standing outside the bus signing autographs. I was telling him about the 10-inch Girl single I have. He was half-listening. Then I told him it had "Little Miss Ann" on one side and "Love Is A Game" on the other. He was suddenly VERY interested. I didn't know that, at the time, "Love" wasn't on an album. He knew I was for real. When we were done, I asked for a hug. He gave me a big kiss on the cheek! I was so startled, I took off! I went to go back, but my ride (my dad) showed up. I didn't breathe the whole way home!
2. Same tour, April 1989 (another reason this month is appropriate for me to be FOTM!). I gave him a dozen roses, a guitar necklace, and a skull bracelet during "I Wanna Be Your Man." At the end of their last song, "One More Reason," he handed me a backstage pass! That was the first time I was backstage EVER! The necklace had been in with the roses in a box, and it fell out when he walked off stage before the encore (the bracelet stayed in). I couldn't get his attention to tell him, so I mentioned it when I was backstage. HE said, "You mean this necklace right here?" HE HAD IT ON!!!! (melt!) I doubt he still has it, but that's OK.
3. Man in the Moon tour (sorry I forget the year): I'm hanging outside the club WAY before the show. I had seen Steve and said Hi. Next thing I know, Phil gets out of the bus, walks directly up to me, and says hello. He then asks if I live near there. I said no, but my "friend" could help him. My "friend" was my hubby who was watching from a nearby vehicle! The area wasn't all that great, and he didn't want to leave me alone. Anyway, Phil says something like, "Well, here's the thing. We have this interview to go do, and we're running late, and we need laundry done. So I was wondering if you would do some laundry for us?" I say, "Sure!" Inside, I'm freaking out! I signal to the hubby, who comes over as Phil is getting on the bus. I say, "We're doing their laundry!" He gives me a confused look. I say, "Just go with it!" Muddy, Phil and Steve give me their laundry (I guess Tracii's was all clean). You could tell Steve was the married one of the bunch....he sorted his! It was kind of anti-climactic after that....spin, spin, spin. When we got back, Phil was touched that we folded the laundry. Then when I was talking with Phil and the hubby was talking with Steve, suddenly Phil looked in their direction and said, "Oh.....you're married." I thought, "What?! What?! Who said that? I didn't say that!" Old habits die hard! LOL I still say Phil was disappointed. Maybe he wanted to "thank" me. Oh well. I can dream! ;>) Steve said later he'd always remember me, and he really honestly has! He probably doesn't know my name, but I'm fine with by sight!
Honorable mention- February 2006 when everybody came to New Jersey for the big party. That was awesome!
OK....I'm done rambling now!

Any famous last words?
It's about time you guys made me FOTM! Just kidding. Seriously, this really, truly is an honor. Thank you SOOOO much! I hope my being FOTM isn't an April Fool's Joke! I hope I haven't bored you all too much either. I tend to "share" a little too much. I hope at least some of it was interesting. Even if it wasn't, at least I know I was honest!
And for my really last words (finally, right?), I'll tell you something my dad said a long time ago: Live every day like it's your last, because one day, it will be. |
