Welcome to FAN OF THE MONTH!

I am honoured to present the very first FAN OF THE MONTH. This month, APRIL 2003, goes to someone who has always fascinated me with his knowledge of the band. I have been visiting this lovely community for over 3 years now and the first one to totally impress me was JAN. For a while I thought he had no life outside of this band... I'm glad to say that he does! LOL So... CONGRATS JAN!

Screen Name:     Python

Real Name:         Jan Laureyns

Where You Hail From:
I'm from Belgium. I was born in Ghent, but I grew up in Waarschoot, a small town 20 km's away from Ghent. Last August my girlfriend and I moved in together and now we live in Ghent.

Favorite LAG Album:
I've always said that Vicious Circle is my favorite because of the wide range of musical genres on the album and because my favorite song is on it: Long Time Dead. However, there's also a really crappy song on it (in my opinion of course :-) ) Chasing The Dragon; I can't stand that song. Hollywood Vampires is probably my second favorite and there's not a single song that disappoints on that album.

When Did You First Hear LAG?
I first saw the video of Kiss My Love Goodbye on MTV around the time Hollywood Vampires came out. I had a relatively small CD collection at that time, maybe 10 CD's or so and I wanted to try something new. So I got the album and I liked it very much. About a year later, my dad got me Cocked & Loaded as a present. He knew I liked L.A. Guns and he came across the album when looking for some other stuff so he got it for me. At first I didn't really like it at all. Rip'n'Tear was the only song I really, really liked on that album. After a while the album started to grow on me and I liked it much better than I did at first. However, I still don't see why people think The Ballad of Jayne is such a great song. To be honest, I think it's a really boring song, but hey, it's their most popular song so a lot of fans probably started listening because of that song :-) From then on I started to collect all their stuff.

Your Favorite Piece of LAG Memorabilia You Own:
Hard to tell.... I own the original EP: Collector's Edition No. 1 which is pretty hard to find. I also have a lot of Japanese rarities. I don't really have a favorite. I do have a picture Tracii took with my camera of me standing in the crowd; that's pretty unique as well.

First LAG Show
Sometime end September, early October 2001; I can't remember the exact date. I went to two shows in London they did on their UK tour in 2001. I was pretty excited the band came to Europe after all those years I had been a fan. I had to travel to London all by myself to see them, but it was more than worth it.

Greatest Moment With The Band
Well, after the shows in London, there was a meet & greet so I told them I was "Python from the message board" and I was pleasantly surprised they knew who I was. I took some pictures and got some stuff signed. That was a great moment :-)

All About You
I play a little guitar. I can play along with some songs and now and then I manage to play a solo but I have absolutely no feeling for rhythm and I can't read music sheets.

I studied computer science at the University of Ghent and now I work as a computer programmer for a large Belgian computer company. I also design websites in my spare time. A couple of years ago I started 'Over The Edge'; my very own LAG fansite. As far as I know it was the first LAG site on the web (not in its current incarnation though). Through the years it has changed a lot and I managed to create a rather extensive discography. However, when I started to work, I didn't have as much spare time as I used to so I didn't really work on the site anymore. I did make the discography pages for the official site though.
